󰃨 여호와께서...명하신 대로 - 이와 동일한 말은 본 장에서 무려 9번이나 더 나온다(5, 7, 21, 26, 29, 31, 42, 43절). 이같은 사실은 백성들이 성막과 성의(聖依)를 제작함에 있어서 일점 일획도 인간의 생각대로 주관하지 아니하고 철저하게 하나님의 지시(25:9;28:4)대로 실행하였음을 보여준다.

󰃨 금실과 청색 자색 홍색실...베실로 - 금은 동서양을 막론하고 지극한 영광을 상징하는 물건이다. 그리고 청, 자, 홍, 흰색도 제각기 상징적 의미를 지닌다. 따라서 이러한 실들로 만든 에봇은 표면적으로 하나님 앞에서 섬기는 직분을 맡은 대제사장의 영광스러움과 아름다움을 나타내 준다. 그러나 보다 궁극적으로는 하나님 우편에 앉아 계시는 분이자 우리의 영원한 대제사장 되시는 예수 그리스도의 영광과 아름다움, 그의 성품 및 사역 등을 예표해 주는 것으로 볼 수 있다<28:5, 6>.

󰃨 에봇 - 견대에 의하여 앞판과 뒷판이 연결된 일종의 앞치마로서 대제사장이 제일 겉에 입는 옷이다. 이것에는 다양한 치수가 있으나 대체로 엉덩이까지 내려 오는 것이 보통이다. 한편 일반 제사장들도 에봇을 입었으나 대제사장의 것과는 달리 세마포로 짠 것이며 특별한 장식도 없는 것이었다(삼상2:18;14:3). 보다 자세한 내용은 28:4 주석을 참조하라.

󰃨 에봇을 매는 띠 - 허리 둘레에 맴으로써 에봇을 몸에 밀착시키는 데 필요한 띠이다(28:8). 그런데 성경상 띠는 대개 일에 임하기 위한 자세, 헌신 등을 의미한다고 볼 수 있다(요 13:4). 그러므로 띠를 에봇에 붙여 짠 것은 하나님을 위한 봉사와 그에 임하려는 사전의 준비 자세 및 헌신은 불가분의 관계임을 의미한다 하겠다.

󰃨 흉패 - 에봇 앞 가슴에 달린 네모 반듯한 모양의 주머니이다(28:4). 일명 '판결 흉패'로도 불리웠는데, 그 까닭은 흉패 안에 중대 사안을 판결하는 데 사용한 우림과 둠밈을 간직하였기 때문이다(28:15).

󰃨 에봇과 같은 모양으로 - 흉패는 에봇과 마찬가지로 제사장의 몸 제일 겉에 붙이는 것이므로 영광스럽고 아름답게 만들어져야 했다.

󰃨 에봇을 떠나지 않게 - 이것은 흉패의 기능이 에봇을 떠나서는 있을 수 없다는 것을 암시한다. 그런데 여기서 에봇은 예수의 신성과 영광을 상징하는 옷이다(2절). 그리고 흉패는 백성들이 하나님의 뜻을 묻는 데 필요한 우림과 둠밈을 간직하는 주머니이다. 따라서 흉패로 하여금 에봇을 떠나지 않게 하라는 것은 백성들이 좇아 행하여야 할 근본 뜻은 하나님이신 예수께로부터 말미암는 것임을 시사해 준다. 기실 예수께서 이 땅에 오신 목적도 자신의 뜻과 동일한 성부 하나님의 뜻을 이루기 위함이었다(요 6:39).

본절은 천지 창조가 끝났음을 기록한 창 1:31과 유사하다. 즉 천지 창조가 끝났을때 하나님께서는 그 지으신 만물을 '보셨고', 그것들은 하나님이 '명하신 대로' 되었으며, 하나님께서는 만물과 인간을 '축복'하셨다. 모세 역시 모든 제조된 물품을 '보았고', 그것들은 하나님이 '명하신 대로' 이루어졌으며, 마지막으로 모세는 백성들을 '축복'했다. 그러므로 여기서 모세는 하나님의 대표자로서 행동했음을 알 수 있고 나아가서, 이 성막과 그 기구의 제조 과정은 또 하나의 '창조'라고 할 수 있을 것이다. 즉 하나님을 예배하는 이스라엘이 이날에 새롭게 태어난 것이며, 따라서 그것은 곧 또 하나의 창조인 셈이다. 즉 인간 타락 후 단절된 하나님과의 교제가 이 성막을 통하여 다시금 회복되었는바 이 성막은 장차 오실 그리스도의 몸과 사역을 예표하고 있는 것이다. 그러므로 구약 시대 성막은 신약시대 '그리스도 안에서의 새 창조'(고후 5:17)를 향한 모형으로써 분명 창조적 성격을 띠고 있는 것이다.
